You're probably thinking that this statement is too hard to believe or you're wondering exactly what it means.
Maybe you've only thought of Jesus as a historical figure, or "religion", or perhaps just a swear word.
But there's much more to Christ.
You see, Christ cared so much for you that He paid the ultimate price, allowing you the choice of a personal relationship with God... a relationship that brings you through the rough times, that makes life worth living.
Jesus said, "I am come that you might have life, and that you might have it more abundantly.
Consider Jesus Christ. He's the answer your heart is looking for.
Our natural inclination is to think we can do life alone, on our own power and sheer will. How is that possible if we are not perfect? How is it possible if our lives are broken by sin? Sure, we have some God-given ability to think and be mindful, self-aware, perceptive, able to make decisions, be creative, imaginative and the like, but it all falls short of fixing what truly ails us.
We wish we could be our own gods. We want complete control. The bible makes it clear that probably our greatest sin is selfishly thinking we have it all under control when it is clear we do not. We can live our best lives and still get sick, deal with broken relationships, have things happen to us completely out of our control, do everything we can and still come up short. We say, “That’s life”. That’s absolutely correct. Life is broken because our state of sin and so “we all fall short of the glory of God.”
Part of our problem is that we yearn for something we cannot give ourselves: wholeness. No one can except, Jesus. Only by fully trusting in him and his work of “new life”, salvation can we find a way to walk through the brokenness of life. Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” To really understand and experience the true meaning and fullness of life, we need to trust Jesus and the life-changing, transforming power of his life, death and resurrection. We all come to the point of taking stock of our lives, both the good and the bad, and are left with the question, can you hear Jesus at the door, knocking and calling your name, saying, “I love you. You are my beloved child. Come, follow me?”
